Artist's Statement
Brenda Hermundstad Yirsa is an oil and pastel painter and an art quilter who is primarily self-taught in all these mediums.
She has participated in numerous shows, juried and otherwise, in the U.S.throughout the past 20 years accumulating many awards along the way.
Her home in central Montana is a constant inspiration for the landscapes that are created at the end of her paintbrush. Although landscapes are her primary subject matter, portraits of people and pets have often been commissioned by her clients.
The tactile enjoyment of the quilt arts has challenged Brenda to continue to learn this important art form that she first observed her grandmothers doing. Presently, 3 of Brenda's paintings have been made into quilt patterns which she designed. They are available from Bigfork Bay Cotton Company in Bigfork, MT. She has also designed 10 other floral patterns for the company.
